The next wave of digital transformation is reshaping China and global networking is going to be critical to its success. China is one of the most exciting markets for digital innovation and start-up incubators. According to Accenture, China stands to generate an additional 3.75% gross domestic product (GDP) by 2020 – the equivalent of adding $527 billion to the economy by harnessing the power of Digital technologies.
Network service providers who can connect Chinese innovations abroad and bring new solutions into the local market will be able to capture a massive growth opportunity. With increased government spending in technology and the highest amount of STEM graduates in the world, the development of new technologies such as Cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rampant throughout China. Service providers will have to find a networking partner that has a global presence and can consistently deliver flexible and scalable networking solutions.
Last year, we took two major steps towards supporting Digital Transformation in China. We partnered with a like-minded SDN provider in the local market and have committed to building hyper-scalability into our global network to support bandwidth-intensive solutions. Both have set us up to serve the global needs of local network-centric businesses and enable even more businesses to connect efficiently in China.
The first was to deploy 100G services across our network backbone to deliver hyper-scale connectivity designed to support the massive amounts of data created by emerging technologies all around the world. We are preparing for the next wave of data growth and China is going to be a massive driver of innovation globally. On-demand and flexible term 100G services give network-centric businesses of all kinds the scalability and agility to capitalise on new digital capabilities and connect and deploy them successfully.
Secondly, we interconnected our software-defined networking (SDN) platform with DCConnect, a leading Chinese on-demand connectivity provider. This has enabled us to bring major cities in China closer to our partners, allowing them to seamlessly interconnect on-demand from anywhere around the world using Infiny. Users can now connect to an extended network of more than 118 data centres and the Cloud Providers in China.
At the same time, we have opened up our global interconnect fabric consisting 220 Points of Presence (PoPs) and pre-connected to over 600 network operators, Cloud providers and Internet Exchanges (IX) to DCConnect’s customers in China. This means they can use the same SDN platform for local connectivity to interconnect with Epsilon’s global network.
As China’s digital economy continues to develop, we are ready to connect and deliver networking solutions to all kinds of industries. Whether you are a digital service provider looking to expand into China or Chinese-based enterprise seeking global expansion, Epsilon can support you in your next phase of growth.
